Who is Mianda and why did we name our gin after her?

image58

Mianda Bayley was married to Ewing Young's best friend, Sidney Smith, and is the person who planted the acorn on Ewing Young's grave in 1846.

Her acorn grew into the magnificent Ewing Young Oregon Heritage Oak tree that stands a couple hundred feet from the distillery.

Mianda's Oregon Summer Gin is a small batch, hand-made gin.  We made it here at the farm from the finest ingredients, including Italian juniper and Oregon Cascade hops, hyssop, and rosemary grown on the farm.  Can't wait for you to try it.  We're done distilling and the gin is resting.

It will be ready to bottle the end of July, just in time for summer gin and tonics.

(No, that's not gin in the bottle...not just yet.)

Mianda and Sidney are buried in Lafayette.
